Golden Gate Bridge

Mark and I just returned from a trip to San Francisco.  Mark had a conference, and I tagged along and toured the city.  We arrived Sunday morning and had most of the day to sight see.  One of our first stops was the Golden Gate Bridge.
Our tour guide said we were very lucky to see the bridge on such a clear day.  It was a spectacular sight!
 Bridge Fun Facts
...the bridge can sway 27 feet from side to side and 12 feet up and down
...there is a full time paint crew that works on the bridge, EVERY DAY...when they get to the end, they start over
...total length of the bridge, 1.7 miles
...median markers between the lanes are moved to conform to traffic patterns. On weekday mornings, traffic flows mostly southbound into the city, so four of the six lanes run southbound. Conversely, on weekday afternoons, four lanes run northbound.
...the bridge was painted international orange to enhance visibility in fog
The man who designed the bridge...Joseph Strauss
